October Weekend Academy (Click to learn more)

October 12 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

FREE

This is a series of four-hour classes and is by far the most important for any patient, particularly new hearing aid users, to attend.  Because we feel this way, all patients completing the entire series (all four Hear for Life classes) will receive a $50 gift certificate to our clinic as a thank-you for participating.  Each class in this program is designed to be approximately an hour long, with another hour set aside for lunch, but may end earlier than 3 pm.

Section 1: Introduction to Hearing Loss and Hearing Aids

This class covers the physical aspects of how we hear, the two different types of hearing loss, how to tell the difference between the two, possible treatments for each, some of the reasons why we develop hearing loss, the different styles of hearing aids available, how to read an audiogram, common questions regarding hearing aids, and the initial adjustment period after buying a hearing aid.

Section 2: Communication Strategies

Friends and family are welcome to join our class with patients. We’ll discuss how hearing aids help in challenging listening situations and share tips for coping. We will also demonstrate an at-home aural rehabilitation program called LACE®, like physical therapy for your ears.

Section 3: How to Care for Your Hearing Aids

In the first half of our class, we will review different hearing aid styles and how to care for them at home. This will include topics such as cleaning, replacing parts, moisture prevention, and troubleshooting. The second half will be a hands-on session where we will demonstrate how to care for your specific hearing aids and give you the chance to practice on your own.

Section 4: Good Hearing Ambassador Program

This class is exclusively for our patients who have purchased hearing aids from our clinic. We will provide a brief history of our clinic, discuss hearing loss statistics, reasons why people resist hearing aids, the importance of social media, and how to support family and friends with hearing needs. We’ll also cover our referral rewards programs, research study opportunities, and testimonial programs and provide gift certificates for you to share with your loved ones.

All of our classes are held at our South Salem location and are completely free, but they do require registration. Please call us or send us an email if you are interested in attending a class.
